One of the best parts about high-intensity interval training (HIIT)—especially HIIT workouts you haven't tried before—is that it keeps your body and mind guessing with back-to-back strength and cardio intervals. (Not to mention you score all of these benefits.) That's exactly what'll happen with this "tornado" workout, designed by Grokker expert Sarah Kusch. It optimizes your time and kicks you into a state of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, or EPOC for short, so that your body keeps burning calories long after your workout is over. (It's also nicknamed the afterburn effect.)

You'll only need a set of dumbbells and an exercise mat for this routine—and, OK, a bottle of water. Hydrating is key for this one. Want more HIIT to choose from? Try our 30-day challenge or play around with these 5 moves you can do anywhere.
